Agile is more than Sprints and sticky-notes on boards. An Agile Mindest does rely on these delivery aspects, but thinking and acting in an Agile manner at the business level is another thing altogether. The Agile Mindset relies on some of my most poignant beliefs as to the value of regular and open conversation combined with my views on the power of Agile Delivery methods.

Some of the lowest of times in my professional life have been watching good projects go bad as a result of badly worded, ill-fitting contracts. What's worse is watching the despair as ego's take over to deliver the final blow to not just a contract, but an otherwise great initiative.

In December 2021 I decided to transition away from Full-Time roles into part-time and freelance positions. Quickly I've established a set of relationships that allow me to match my skills as well as my style of working.

THE PAST FIFTEEN YEARS (OR SO) OF MY CAREER

It's been quite a ride. You can check out my full resume @ LinkedIn, but here's an overview that provides a bit of context about my journey to here.

Since January 2023

PROGRAM ADVISORY AND MANAGEMENT

Since January 2023 I have been working predominantly with Frazer Walker, an excellent boutique Australian based Management Consulting company across a range of strategic roles in project including Data Platform Architecture and Program Management. I've had the pleasure to work with some of Australia's premium Insurance companies in setting IT Strategy around in-flight Digital Transformation activities as well engage architecture around  the Microsoft Power Platform stack (predominantly in PowerApps and Power BI) and Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations.

January 2022 - December 2022

SALES ENABLEMENT PRACTICE LEAD

I was invited to join McCorkell & Associates in 2022 to contract to create and build their Sales Enablement  practice. Bringing into the role Sales Enablement knowledge and skills gained at Artis Group through the Seismic Partnership, and being in the tail end of my graduate study in Product Management, I quickly built a suite of products to take to market in the around Sales Enablement tools and services across the McCorkell business. Unfortunately this role ended as a part of McCorkells restructure in December 2022.

March 2019 - December 2021

HEAD OF BUSINESS CONSULTING

In February 2019 I was invited to rejoin the Artis Group to help with their vision to become an organisation offering something different within the Australian Professional Services Market. My role was to re-envisage the traditional services offerings and put in place a set of productised offerings focussed on the "challenge" an organisation faced versus offering contracts to deliver "stuff".

July 2016 - February 2019

GIG-ECONOMY

During this period, I was lucky enough to work for several large and small organisations in a part-time capacity. A mixture of Project Management, Advisory and Business Reporting contracts kept me busy and happy while offering my first taste of working "the gig economy".

October 2014 - June 2016

SOLUTION SPECIALIST

As a Principal Consultant, I had always enjoyed working with the Sales team. I saw each potential customer as an opportunity to envisage and get excited as to how technology could create a positive vision. I took on a role with Data#3 keen to work closer with Clients as a full-time focus in a pre-sales capacity. Data#3 is an iconic Australian brand and provided me with access to a full-suite of service offerings that I could push together like lego bricks to build a forecast.

November 2010 - September 2014

PRINCIPAL CONSULTANT

After almost a decade working in Product Development, I returned to consulting in 2010 with Australian MSP Artis Group. Consulting has always been a great fit for me exposing me to client facing projects with being able to support, lead and manage technical staff. In this role, I designed and managed a suite of activities that I hold dear to this day and see as building blocks for shaping my future move into advisory.

Education is not the be-all and end-all in life but it always has been and remains an important part of my being. My aim is to keep adding to these over the years in line with my desire to provide relevant, up to date advice with every engagement.

BACHELOR OF SCIENCE, COMPUTING SCIENCE

I took my early tinkering with programming computers to the next level and spent 4years learning a full set of what it takes to be an IT person. I was fortunate enough to get to take a sub-major in Marketing, a passion I've carried into most of my roles during my career.

My belief in Agile principles started to develop in the late 00's and provide me with the opportunity to work as an Agile Coach through a number of my roles and engagements as a consulting. I was trained and (finally) certified as a CSM in December 2021.

GRADUATE CERTIFICATE IN PRODUCT MANAGEMENT

RMIT

Completed in 2022, RMIT's Product Management helped refresh me on the set of marketing skills I'd kicked off learning as an undergraduate whilst providing the skills required as a modern Digital Project Manager.
